What if our biggest idol isn't what we desire — but what we accept?

I.

When a doctor gives a diagnosis, do you receive it as information — or as final truth?

II.

When someone says “that's just the way things are,” do you accept it without question?

III.

When you think about aging, decline, or death — do you see inevitable realities, or defeated enemies?

IV.

Are you living from God's promises — or bowing to the idol of worldly “reality”?

This is subtle idolatry. And it is robbing believers of the abundant life Jesus died to give us.

The Core Tension

Same circumstances. Different conclusions.

The world hands you a verdict. Turn each card — and choose whose report you will believe.

Married 50+ years, Wally is a degreed accountant, former CEO, and longtime videographer and on-camera co-host alongside Rick Osborne. He describes his calling as a “conduit to nations” — creating pathways for Kingdom truth to spread globally.

This book was born from a single word dropped into his spirit during Rick Osborne's teaching: “Idol.” What followed was a cascade of revelations about the subtle ways believers elevate worldly “reality” above Kingdom truth — a book nearly two years in the making, built on the theological foundation of Rick Osborne's work and woven through with research from Dr. Caroline Leaf, Dr. Leland Stillman, and Dr. Andrew Newberg.

Common Questions

Asked before. Answered honestly.

Is this “name it and claim it” or prosperity teaching?
No. This is not a formula for getting whatever you want by claiming it hard enough. The emphasis throughout is on grace — on what God has already accomplished, not on human effort or willpower. As Rick Osborne writes in the foreword: “I would not stake my name on a book that placed the weight of transformation on human effort. This book does not do that.” Transformation is God's work. Your role is to receive it, not to achieve it.
Does the book tell people to deny reality or ignore doctors?
No. A diagnosis is real. Aging is real. Financial struggle is real. The book never asks you to pretend otherwise. The question it asks is different: will you treat those conditions as the final authority over your life — or will you treat God's Word as the final authority? Reality describes conditions. Truth defines authority. Faith doesn't deny reality — it refuses to bow to it.
Is this just one more author's interpretation of the Bible?
The argument is built from Scripture itself, with references throughout — the author's opinion is never the point. And rather than competing with science, the book shows how modern neuroscience (Dr. Caroline Leaf, Dr. Leland Stillman, Dr. Andrew Newberg) confirms what Romans 12:2 has commanded for two thousand years: the brain was wired by God to be renewed.
I've read a lot of Christian books. What makes this one different?
Most Christian books tell you to believe more. This one names the specific idol that has been standing in the way — the quiet agreement with “the way things are” that most believers have never recognized, let alone repented of. Readers call it “a mirror and a map”: it shows you the idol, then walks you through the grace-based steps to dethrone it. You cannot repent of an idol you have never named.
Can I use this with my small group or church?
Yes — it was built for that. The book includes a complete 8-week small group study guide (Appendix B) with Scripture meditation, reflection questions, and declarations. Churches and ministries get bulk discounts up to 55% off, and leaders can use the free 8-week email series alongside the study.
What formats is it available in?
